Add an Animal
This is where you add a new animal. Most of the fields
are radio buttons so you can make your selections more quickly.
You can select a random name, or select a name from a list of popular names (more than 3,000).
When you've entered all of the animal information, you can save the animal, save the animal and create a new one, or even save the animal and create a new one exactly the same as the previous one.
You may not have seen some of the fields before, including Coat Length. We try to support as many of the fields as possible across all of the sites we update. Each animal has a description, which can be created with simple HTML tags like bold, italics, underline and different fonts and colors.
Also, each animal can take up to 3 pictures, which are sent to the pet listing sites. There's no delay when you upload a picture -- the picture is immediately available for your review.
You also have control over which sites will receive this animal. By default, every animal will be uploaded to every site, but you can prevent an animal from being upload if necessary.
Pet List
The pet list is designed to save you time. You can view only certain animals (available,
adopted, hold, etc), and change how many animals display on each page.
The pet list shows the basic fields including Name, Status, Species, Breed, Rescue ID, General Age, and how many pictures have been uploaded.
On the pet list page, you can delete multiple animals, or change them to adopted. You can also select them to upload/change pictures.
You can click on a column title (like Breed or Pics) to resort the list. This is really handy to find the animals that don't have any pictures uploaded, or to sort them by your Rescue ID.
Synchronization Accounts
The Pet Adoption Portal automatically uploads animal data and pictures -- the accounts page
shows your current sync accounts, the last upload, and the results of the last check. The
Portal also verifies that the sites receive and import your data and pictures correctly. If
there are any issues with your animals on the other sites, our volunteers will research the
issue and resolve it!
Volunteer Accounts
All of your volunteers can have their own login account to your Portal. This is important
because you can remove a volunteer at any time to take away their access.
